Gun: Redhawk 7.5", lots of noise, medium to strong recoil. Good accuracy. No signs of too much pressure. Work up from 27g if used in gun other than Ruger. Warning: No official load data from Hodgdon for this bullet weight. =HogRider=

This is one of my favorite loads for the Redhawk 7.5", heavy recoil, super accurate, big muzzle flash. Pressure signs: Primers flat but cases ejected easily. Carful if fired from any gun lighter than a Ruger. Warning: No official load data from Hodgdon for this bullet weight. =HogRider=

I shoot a Ruger Super Redhawk with a 7 1/2" bbl. Is this a good load for deer? Thank you, Harry

A great varmint & defense load for the .44 Rem. Magnum. While stiff, the load is one grain below the maximum load listed in the Hodgdon 2004 Annual Manual for this bullet weight. Hodgdon list a charge of 31.5 grs of H110 for an average pressure of 29,900 CUP, which is pretty mild (however, don’t go above it!). The 30.5 gr. charge of H110 produces an avg. vel. of 1480fps from my 4 inch S&W M29. Pressure signs are fine in my gun with the excellent Hornady 180gr. XTP. Be sure to work up carefully. It’s a thumper!

This is a very nice medium power plinking load for the 44 magnum using Laser-Cast bullet. There was virtually no leading and recoil was pleasent. This is a very clean burning load that would be good for indoor shooting as well as outdoor. I have increased the load to as much as 9.0grs in my SBH with no problems, but the increase gave no benefits for plinking so I settled back down with this load.

This is my favorite low power plinking load for my SBH. It burns very clean, ahs little recoil and shoots very accurate out of my guns. The bullets used are from Laser-Cast

If you are looking for a good load to practice with or just target shoot with this is a great one. It is based on a 190gr. lead DEWC from National Bullet Co. using a Rem.2 1/2 primer with a heavy crimp.Virtually no recoil, very no recoil and very little leading. MAX is 5.9grs. Shooting it out of a Taurus Raging Bull 8 3/8" barrel.

This load is my pick for a general purpose round for use in my 4" M29 Mountain Gun. It has proven extremely accurate, grouping as tight as .75". Terminal performance of the load combo is excellent. It’s my numero uno choice for game up to the size of wild hogs. Go with Speer’s 210 gr. Gold Dot bullet. Again, accuracy has proven to be incredible in my short barreled M29, tight as .75" at 25 yards. Velocities hover close to the 1400fps mark from my 4 inch tube. Expansion is great and balanced by high weight retention.

210gr JHP 21.5 gr2400 1,250 fps1.610" CCI LP guest
As the gentleman asked, I’ve provided the velocity for the load he has posted. Speer list the charge as their starting load for their well-designed 210gr. Gold Dot H.P. My own chronograph checked vels are from my 4"x.44 S&W. My advise is that one might want to use a slightly slower burning powder with this bullet weight for maximum performance, even from shorter barreled 44 Mags. At the upper-end, I’d go with either 27 to 27.5 grs of H110 or 27 to 27.7 grs of Lil’Gun. The heaviest charges I’ve listed are the absolute maximum (Speer and Hodgdon load data referenced). Magnum primers are a must with those two propellants. Of all the bullets in this weight range, the Speer 210gr. GDHP is tops.

210gr JHP 27.5 grH110 1,355 fps1.610" CCI LPM guest
For those who would prefer to use H110 over Lil’Gun, this is a viable alternative to the 27.7 gr. Lil’Gun/210gr. Speer GDHP loading I have posted. Essentially, they are identical in velocity. However, The Lil’Gun load has proven a bit more accurate, in my gun.

This hurts to shoot! Only use it in very strong 44 magnums. NO replica’s! Great Boar or Bear load. Hurts shooting from an 8" barrel.

Could go higher in the powder load. Recoil at 19.5 was mild, accuracy was very good.

Velocity is from a 6.5" Taurus M44. Very hot load, it shot fine in the Taurus but was to much for my M29 Smith causing problems with the trigger.

An outstanding load with Dry Creek Bullet Works 310gr .429" bullet. Velocity was measured in a 6" M29-2 and was just short enough to fit in the cylinder. This load is to hot for the old M29’s but is excellent in newer 629’s, Rugers etc.

This is a RCBS 313 grain gaschecked bullet from Dry Creek Bullets (www.creeker.net). Shoots around 2" consistently at 100 yards from my 10.5" Ruger. Seat bullet and crimp in two steps to ensure good crimp.

This load uses the Cast Performance WFNGC in Winchester cases. Velocity is out of a 7 1/2" Ruger Bisley. Recoil is quite stiff but not abusive. Use a very heavy crimp.

Cast performance 320gr WFNGC bullet with Remington cases and Remington 2/1/2 primers. Velocity from Ruger Super Redhawk 9.5" barrel. Recoil is sharp but switched to Hogue monogrip and I can shot these loads all day. Will kill biggest bears I can find
