| Ok, I've got the user photo gallery up and have taken it out for a test cruise, now I need some volenteers to test it some more. You may have seen the gallery at http://www.handloads.com/gallery now you'll be able to upload your pictures there if you'd like.
I'm looking for 10 people to help test this for the time being. Why 10? So I can easily track bandwidth usage and see where the limits should be. If you're interested post here or send me an email at johnk@handloads.com and I'll enable your forum username/password for the gallery site.
Thanks for your help.

| That's fine, I wouldn't expect everyone to max out the system all the time. I've enabled your account Terry so you should be able to upload whenever you'd like.
Thanks for your help! |

| I get this message when trying to upload a message:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'
Script timed out
/gallery/Insert.loggedin.asp
The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.

| Try closing the browser window, open it back up, re-login and try again. I think the server is getting under a heavier load, I've run across that error a couple times in the last few days and last night it was down for about an hour. |

| Hmmm...Just as a test try uploading a small image, somthing tiny only a couple K in size. How large is the picture you've been trying to upload? |

| It was 361K. I just uploaded a 3k and a 52K picture. They show as available but show only a red X when selected. |

| Ok, the Raging Bull picture is up there just fine, when I change the memberid in the database to mine it displays Ok. So don't upload any more, or delete this one and I'll track down the problem. |

| The problem of the pictures not displaying is fixed Terry, any that you upload should come up just fine now.
The problem with the time out when uploading big files I'll have to contact the web host about. It's just caused by the length of time it takes to upload files, I've uploaded 500k files without a problem, but I've also seen that script timeout when just posting to the forum.
Until then if you keep the uploads in the 150k range or less I don't think you'll have any problems. In any case smaller pictures will be better appreciated by anyone who wants to view them since it will take them less time to download them.

| Hi John,
Is part of the test linking our pictures elsewhere for other to view? |

| I've done that, so I know it works but you're free to try it if you'd like. The link directly to the picture will look like http://www.handloads.com/gallery/file.asp?ID=51 just go to the page that displays the image and right click on it, select Properties to get the link directly to the picture. |

| I've added some new functionality to the user gallery pages today. There is now an additional category "people" to put images in. You can also now edit pictures that have been uploaded, change the description, change categories or switch from private to public or vice versa.

| A few more features, most on the admin side, have been added. You can now add a forum avatar through the gallery. There is an option to set a picture as an Avatar, which automatically updates the forum with that preference.
But the big change is now the gallery is open to all forum accounts. |

| Hi John,
I have tried inserting the link to a picture in other forums that support those links but I get the famous red x. What do you think?
