Well, I finally broke out the dremel and fixed the trigger (dropped the JB-Weld idea at John's suggestion).

If you could, feel free to add that HKS A-10 speedloaders are perfect for the Windicator. Picked up a pair and a Uncle Mikes speedloader holster for them. I've got a safariland high rise paddle on order.

A Dremel works great for removing sharp trigger grooves, I've used it to remove them from the face of a couple triggers and to round the back edge on one or two that would pinch in fast double action shooting.

I've added a link to this thread at the end of your article so anyone who wants to make any comments can easily drop by.

Thanks. I told my wife I'm a famous writer now.. she laughed..

I figure the next person looking for info on the Windicator may find that info useful. I know there was a serious lack of information when I looked.

Trigger is much nicer now, I had to wait until my finger healed from the previous one..to really tell.

Thanks for your "review" of the Windicator .357. Is the confiscation by police of the defense weapon common in all or most states ? Is the weapon ever returned after confiscation ? This issue seems worth discussing as a topic.............. Rubin

From what I've read if you shoot someone with a firarm it will be confiscated by the police, wether the incident was justified or not. Wether you get it back or not depends on the results of the investigation, and the department. I suspect that if you live in Los Angeles or Chicago you can kiss your gun good bye. If you live in small town Montana chances are you'd get it back.

A friend of mine had a .22 gallery gun confiscated by the police in a small LA suburb (Simi Valley, famous for the King trial ;-).. He wasn't charged with anything, took hime 8+ months to get it back.

Thanks John and Braindeado...It may be worthwhile buying a used self-defense hangun (good brand) for a few hundred bucks. An acquaintence here said he bought a used 9mm SW pistol at a gun show from an individual seller. It was in good condition ($350). What do you think about buying a used gun as an alternative to a cheap new gun? Ofcourse I gotta educate myself to evaluate the condition of a used gun.

Used guns can be some of the best deals out there. Most people really don't shoot very often so "used" guns are generally in good condition, especially since it takes many many thousands of rounds to wear out a good handgun.

The problem you can run into buying a used gun is getting someone elses lemon. Why did they get rid of it? Maybe they just didn't like it, or needed the money, or maybe it's a complete piece of junk that jams and is inaccurate. Now most guns are going to be decent shooters, all the used revolvers I've purchased have been good and worth the money, but you can run into problems.

I have a short article on things to check for when buying a used revolver by Jim March here: Revolver checkout, that is worth reading if you're looking for a used revolver.

John : Thanks for your overview of exploring the used gun market. That article on evaluating the condition of a revolver looked excellent to me. I read it only once but intend to study it more later......................................................................Rubin

One other note, there are inexpensive new guns to be had. I paid $275 for my EAA Witness 9mm and it's more accurate and reliable than my Sig 220. You won't find a Sig/Glock/S&W for that kind of money, but I'd buy another Witness if something were to happen to this one.

John, Sounds good to me. Can you tell me where you purhased that Witness 9mm ? Was it a "compact" size ?..............

I purchased it at Wades Eastside Guns, a local gunshop/range in the area. That was about 1.5-2 years ago, a friend got one at the same time, same price. His too has been very accurate. It's not a lightweight gun by any means, 5" barrel and steel frame, but a great shooter. Here's a picture of mine

OK , thnx John..............nice pic of the Witness 9mm..........Btw, your last reply did not show up soon enough after I received the email notice, so I went to bed.....

Thanks for the durability update braindead0, sounds like they use some soft steel in parts of that gun if only 12 factory 357 rounds beat it up so badly.

Yeah, it may have been on the edge as I've fired fairly hot loads through it before with no problem.

From what I can tell the ejector assembly metal is just too soft. Their is not damage to the frame where the ejecter must have been banging away at it..

If I only had a lathe ;-).
